Kintsugi For the broken heart
By Perla Semaan
Kintsugi, is a Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold. Now think of it not as an art, but as a philosophy, or even better, a way of living. When the broken pot is sealed with gold, it surely becomes more beautiful than it ever was. And just like the pot, when your heart is broken, mend it with gold… with love.
Whatever it is the cause of your heartbreak, don’t ignore it. Concealing will never make you feel any better, but on the contrary, it will intensify your pain. Listen to your heart instead and to what it has to say to you; don’t silence its sound. By facing your brokenness, your process in healing progresses, and once you know what is it that your heart needs, you will be helping the process along. Just like the golden pot, your heart will become more beautiful, more compassionate, and more fulfilled. It is only when you experience pain that you will become stronger and happier, even in times of trouble.
” The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places.” – Ernest Hemingway
